What an incredible year it’s been here in the U.S.. It’s hard to believe another year is almost over — time sure does fly by when you’re having fun. With many starting to wind down for the festive season – and as I prepare to transition out of my role as President of the Americas – I’ve been reflecting on the amazing year that we’ve had at Xero and my time with the company as a whole.
It’s been a massive year at Xero. Just this month we completed a two-year re-platform project to Amazon Web Services (AWS). This has been an incredible challenge as we migrated more than 1.4 petabytes of data and 59 billion records to the AWS platform.
While all this has been going on we’ve established new integrations and released even more software than we did the previous year, including Xero HQ, our new partner program and the advisor directory — all designed to better connect and support accounting firms.
Meanwhile, new features such as Report Templates, Two-Step Authentication and the ‘Hey Xero’ chatbot have been rolled out to make life easier every day. Not to mention we held our biggest Xerocon in the U.S. to date, with more than 1,000 of our partners joining us in San Francisco to learn about all things cloud accounting.
#Human is a value that Xero holds very near and dear, and during my time at Xero I’ve watched the team here face every challenge with great passion and dedication.
We’re already seeing some of the benefits of the move, with Xero being substantially faster in many areas. Next year, the full power of machine learning and AI features will come into play — along with a whole lot of new things we’ve been working on that will improve efficiencies for accountants and small businesses.
We are already looking at the many ways to leverage the power of the new platform. With the ability to plug-and-play complex big data analytics and machine learning tools over billions of pounds worth of transactional data, the insights and tools we can build for you in the next few years will eclipse what we’ve built you in the last ten.
This is an exciting time to be working with small businesses as we also see a fundamental shift happening. Banks are seeing the benefit of having a direct digital relationship with their small business customers and it’s enabling us to work with them closer to tackle traditional issues like cash flow, getting paid and receiving access to capital.
As we continue to unlock the full power of the financial web, we can use this powerful information to drive economic growth in ways we haven’t yet seen.
As I transition out of Xero’s halls at year end, I want to thank you and every one of our customers for such an incredible journey over the last 2 and a half years. I will continue to be a Xero advocate and truly believe that Xero, as a platform, will change the world.
Xero’s incoming President of the Americas, Keri Gohman, signals the next exciting phase of growth for the organization. Keri is fantastic and will be an incredible leader.
It has been my distinct honor to work with such a passionate team in such a great business as Xero. From all of the team here at Xero, we want to take the time to thank you for your commitment to Xero and believing with us in our vision. We hope you get to enjoy some well-earned time off with your friends and family over the holiday season. We’ll see you in 2017
