“For me, it was riskier to do nothing than to try what I’ve always wanted to try.” – Kishshana Palmer
Fitting into a box is not something Kishshana’s interested in. In fact, she’s been carving out her own path in the consulting space, and empowering others to do the same. Today, she owns Kishshana + Co., a consulting firm that’s helping nonprofits and entrepreneurs thrive. And she’s having fun doing it.
On this episode of Xero Gravity, we chat with Kishshana about taking risks and going right when everyone else is going left. Plus, she shares what it takes to run a successful business while keeping authentic to who she is and the kind of role model she’s trying to be for her daughter. Yup – both passionate and genuine!
After spending years at a full-time consulting position, Kishshana was feeling burnt out. She was overworked, exhausted and spending weeks on the road away from her daughter. So, when she decided to relaunch her practice, it was going to be on her terms. Her voice, her energy, her brand.
“I didn’t think relaunching my practice was going to be easy, but I definitely did not think it was going to be as challenging as it has proven to be,” Kishshana admits. She found herself working as hard as ever, but not closing any deals.
“I stopped taking care of myself, and I realized that if I wasn’t taking care of myself then I couldn’t be taking care of my business, and I couldn’t be taking care of my clients. That was it. I was creatively tapped, and I just wasn’t focused on anything other than the business of being busy,” says Kishshana.
Tune into Xero Gravity #79 to hear how Kishshana got through the tougher times and built a brand that is not only successful but authentically her. Plus, Kishshana shares how she’s learned that not everyone is going to like you and why that’s perfectly okay.
