Access your organisation’s faster with search
Search organisations in Xero for Android
For those of you with multiple Xero organisations, we’ve introduced the ability to now quickly find an org without wearing your fingers out. No more annoying scrolling through the My Xero screen!
Searching for an organisation is super simple. From the My Xero screen, tap the magnifying glass in navigation menu (top right of the screen) and search away.
User role improvements
Spend monies for Invoice only/Purchase only users
Our first role improvement is for Invoice only/Purchase only users, who are now able to create spend monies with the receipts feature in Xero for Android.
You can create a spend money by simply choosing the relevant business account from the “How did you pay?” field when creating a new receipt.
Submit an invoice for approval for Draft only / Invoice only users
For our Draft only/Invoice only users, we’ve also improved things for them too. They can now submit invoices for approval after creating a new invoice.
Submitting an invoice for approval is easy, just tap the paper plane icon when you’re ready and select ‘Submit’.
Get notified about new bank transactions
How banking notifications work in Xero for Android
If you’ve got an account setup with an active banking feed (if not, you definitely should!), Xero for Android can let you know when you’ve got new transactions available to reconcile.
We can send a push notification to your Android device, telling you how many new transactions your accounts have, and their newly updated balances. You can pick and choose which accounts you wish to receive notifications for, and you can do this for any organisation you may have access to.
Using an iOS device instead? No worries, check out our previous post on using banking notifications in Xero for iOS.
If you’re trying to avoid notification spam, we’ve got your back. We chose to release bank notifications turned off by default and let you pick and choose what you want to be notified about. We’ll even group the notifications together, and politely send them to you only once a day.
Enabling push notifications for your bank accounts
To enable push notifications for an account, login to Xero for Android and tap on your organisation name.
From the dashboard, head to the organisation settings and find the “Notify me when I have new transactions to match”. Tap the toggle and you’ll see your accounts appear.
You can then select which accounts you’d like to receive notifications for. Rinse and repeat for any of your other organisations you’d like to be notified about.
* Do you use more than one mobile device with your Xero account? If yes, it’s important to note that these account level notification settings carry over to any other device where you’re logged into Xero for Android or Xero for iOS.
Turning off notifications
Wanting to cut back on the tech noise? No problem, you can shut off all notifications for a device by toggling off “Receive notifications on this device” on the My Xero Settings screen, or at an organisation level by toggling off the “Notify me when I have new transactions to match” in your Organisation Settings.
We’re keen to expand on how we communicate information and inform our users about their businesses through Xero for Android. Do you have questions about your business that you’d like answered during the day? Information you’d like us to surface to you at convenient times? If so, please let us know!
Questions? Whether they are about this feature, or other Xero for Android topics – feel free to submit them in the comments section below!
You can download Xero for Android from the Play Store. If you’ve enjoyed your experience, we’d love if you could leave us a rating!
