Investing heavily in maintaining an open ecosystem has become one of Xero’s key competitive advantages. It’s also become a competitive advantage for many of our connected partners who have leveraged the Xero network, of more than 600,000 subscribers, to grow.
For customers, they benefit from an open platform because it drives innovation en masse. Google Maps has been a phenomenal example of just how much value can be drawn from an open API – of all the businesses that have been built on the back of it – great examples include ride-hailing apps, Uber and Lyft.
There are now more than 500 partner integrations which use Xero’s open platform and many have the potential to become the biggest in their category.
Xero add-on partner, Receipt Bank, recently raised $US10 million in funding as it invests in global growth. You can read about how the startup used the Xero platform to innovate and help small businesses work smarter over on Medium.
